Prague is the phenomenon attracting visitors and tourists from the whole world. At present, Prague is one of the most visited cities in Europe. It always has something to offer to its visitors: museums; galleries, expositions; concerts, well-known festivals (Prague Dance; the Prague Spring), cafes, walks in the Old Town and the Lesser Town, as well as rich nightlife in night clubs, dance houses and on parties. Choose accommodation in apartments or hotels in Prague and become a part of Prague at least during your visit there.
Prague – Historical MetropolisPrague was established on the crossroads of trading ways intersecting on the place of its genesis already in the 9th century. Human settlements had appeared on Prague territory already in the primeval ages, but its significance started to rise from the establishment of the Prague Castle by the prince Borivoj between 880 and 890, which has been used as the seat of the head of the state until now. The golden period for Prague was during the reign of Charles IV, a Roman Emperor and Czech king. He founded a university in Prague in 1348, now the oldest university in the Central Europe; and he made Prague the centre of the Holy Roman Empire. Experiencing a grandiose urban development in days of Charles IV, another emperor – Rudolf II Habsburg – engraved renaissance outlook to Prague at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. Prague is a very romantic city with a labyrinth of tortuous lanes. Until the 18th century, Prague consisted of 4 towns: Hradcany, Mala Strana, Stare Mesto and Nove Mesto (the Prague Castle Town, the Lesser Town, the Old Town, the New Town). In the 2nd half of the 18th century, these 4 smaller towns were interconnected in one, giving birth to a single town. In 1971, the Prague historic centre was declared to be a Monument Reservation and it was incorporated in the UNESCO List of the Worldwide Cultural Heritage.Prague - Photos
